Commence the awkward stories!

Well I have 2 weeks until my first 1/2 marathon and I ran my longest distance-10 miles in 1 hour 37 minutes.  I can't believe it.  So with that I have obviously trained HARD to be able to do that, and with that comes some pretty hilariously awkward moments.  So this blog is dedicated to the best of those.

1)  I put on my nike shorts, and my big tank top, tucked it in, and off for a long run I go!  After about a mile, something felt weird so I untucked my tank, and kept going.  Something still felt weird, and I realized that although 95% of my underwear fit, apparently this pair was part of the 5% that is now HUGE on me.  So, they were literally falling down me, and there was no way to stop it.  So by highway 80, and the Whitt, I proceeded to somehow maneuver one leg, and then the other out of my panties, while my shorts were on!  No wanting to waste time, I stuffed them in my sports bra, and ran at least 7 miles with no underwear on.  What.  The.  Heck.  So I sweat profusely apparently.  I plan to buy tighter underwear ASAP.  Tip.

2)  So I am again long running, and after about 5 miles or so I REALLY had to pee.  However, I am doing a long run and I didn't want to stop my momentum for anything.  So I didn't OUTRIGHT just let myself go...however, I will safely say by the time I made it back to the dorms I was soaking wet, and I took a shower in my shorts.  So FYI:  running makes you have to pee faster, and more.  And holding it can only take you for so long.

3)  I am training running, so about 5 miles total.  Let me preface with I had dairy late the night before, which often messes with my stomach.  So, I am running and am about 3 miles in and it just SMACKED me in the face (or stomach) that I had to go RIGHT THEN (and we aren't just talking about I had to pee y'all!).  So, I was about .60 away from campus.  Talk about the LONGEST .60 of my life alternating from jogging, sprinting, and walking.  Because depending on the moment, running made me have to go a zillion times more where as walking was more acceptable, but SLOW.  So I made it by the grace of God to alumni gym, and then finished my run!  Moral of the story:  no dairy the night before I plan to run.

4)  I decided I wanted to try the energy gel stuff (like gu, huma, hammer gel, etc.) because I hear it works wonders.  However, I also hear that certain people it KILLS their stomach.  So, one afternoon before working out I try it and it works grand.  So, the next morning off I go to go run a 4 or 5 mile run.  I get 2.5 in and I literally can't walk.  It.  Was.  Bad.  I was about 2 miles away from campus.  So, my awesome friend, Matt, saves the day when he answered before 8 am and came and picked me up off the side of the road and zoomed me back to campus.  Tip:  I won't take energy gel again.

5)  While I was training at home, I had a route I ran and on this route most of the time I encountered dogs.  And I'm just saying-it was HORRIBLE.  This one time Lindy and I are running and multiple dogs (it's never been over 1 before this) come zooming towards us.  So we literally have a freaking trash can between us and the pack of dogs.  Scariest.  Moment. Ever.  Lindy is ready to spray them with pepper spray too.  However, we figure out we could just slowly walk away and they didn't kill us.  Moral of the story: don't make eye contact with any animal on the road and they won't actually attack.
